Facebook ideas unleashed

Thefacebook's page
"Facebook was founded by Mark Zuckerberg on October 28, 2003, while attending Harvard as a sophomore with his college roommates and fellow computer science students Eduardo Saverin, Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes. The website's membership was initially limited by the founders to Harvard students, but was expanded to other colleges in the Boston area, the Ivy League, and Stanford University. It later expanded further to include (potentially) any university student, then high school students, and, finally, to anyone aged 13 and over. The website currently has more than 400 million active users worldwide..." (Wikipedia)

This is a brief history about Facebook from Wikipedia...Over 400 million active users!!! Can you believe that?? You must, because that's the way it is. So is there any doubt that Facebook can't help you to get connected with the whole world!

Finding peoples having similar interest
The main idea is to get connected to lots of people. And that's how Facebook works. After creating an account, the first thing that will going to work is to make connection with similar minded peoples. And for that you need to get into similar groups or fan pages where you might introduce about you and your interest to get friends. It will definitely work without being any fear of banned for spamming or massaging people you do not know. Because you are asking same minded peoples to be your friends and if they are accepting your request, what's wrong with that?? And within a shortest time if you can keep peoples asking to be your friends daily at least 30 request then you don't have to think about anything if it's just for your fanpages or getting to let peoples know about your website or blogs.

Creating a Fan page of your own
To let everyone getting an idea about you, the better way is to create a fanpage. And it's now rocking the world of Facebook. You will find lots of pages like celebrities fan pages, music lover fan pages and even larger organizations using the idea of fanpages to get more and more fans just to promote their products on Facebook. So what are you waiting for...? If you don’t have a fan page yet, go and create one now! Fan pages are really a great way to promote your Creative web Biz.

Fabulous Fan pages using FBML

To create an appealing Facebook Fan Page is not that easy.  And it’s not an overwhelming task either. But it requires planning, time and a bit of HTML knowledge, with skills of design and imagination power. Let me start off by saying, Facebook itself is the only true barrier in the whole page creation process you may find. It would be much easier to create any page if they accepted all your codes. It would open up the endless possibilities to yield wider variety of unique and tremendous pages. But unfortunately, this won't gone' a happen the way you're thinking, so you have to find ways to work it out with what you’ve got and take it up there.
There are great tools and tips available on the net to help you to create an exceptional page for your brand without wasting vast amount of time or capital. I’ve been working to develop one of my own IdeaFacebook page on Facebook and I have some tips from my experience that I would love to share with you guys.
A Fan Page is actually composed of numerous Tabs which provide you the opportunity to afford a rich user experience. Adding extra Tabs is not required to get your Fan Page off the ground; however, if you don't add 1 or 2 then you are really missing a great chance of getting interactions from Fans.
To insert tabs FBML is must. FBML is a subset of HTML that Facebook has created to work within their environment. FBML stands for Facebook Markup Language.  It’s Facebook’s own version of HTML.  You need to install the application first because it allows you to configure your Fan Pages with custom tabs.  If you are good at traditional HTML you will pick up FBML quickly.
But if you don’t have any experience with HTML, you are not alone and in that case I suggest you to go with a web developer who can quickly insert all custom apps you need without the hassle of learning this new language at the same time when you are trying to grow up your fan based business.  But, if you love challenges then just power it up!!
Here’s how you can add the Static FBML application so that you can start configuring your landing page:
First of all you need to write down FBML in the search box and press enter after finding the page and then just click on the link saying "add to my page"

Once you’ve added the Static FBML app, click “Edit Page” below your profile image. This will bring up all your settings and added apps. Look for the FBML app and click the “Application Settings” link.

The app can work in two ways: As a set of boxes, or as a dedicated profile tab. If you’re constructing a splash page, you’ll probably need to use it as a tab, and for that make sure the “Box” setting is removed, and the “Tab” setting is added. You can have the opportunity to experiment with boxes later if you find that useful.

Once you’re in tab mode, go back to your settings and click the “Edit” link under the Static FBML app. This opens a text field where you can add your content.

“Box Title” will be the name of your tab, so you’ll want to change it to something appropriate, like “Latest updates,” “home,” or simply “Welcome,” depending on how you plan to use your Page.
The main text field is where your content goes, and you can add standard HTML to the page as you would like any website, including text, images, links, and other formatting as needed. But remember no need to use:  HTML, BODY, or HEAD tags.

Note that your images must be hosted elsewhere like on your company’s website or there is an easy way for sharing photos from the free photo sharing sites like photobucket.com and only it could be easily referenced in your HTML code to have an image on your landing page.

If you want the new tab to be the “face” of your Fan Page, head back over to your page settings and edit your “Wall Settings.” There is an option for “Default Landing Tab for Everyone Else.” From that menu, select your new tab.

From now on, it will be the first thing visitors see when they arrive.

Using applications to make fanpages more dynamic
Facebook offers several software applications which allow users to do more with their Fanpages. You can add images, texts, links and groups easily. You can also choose your top friends, add music and even put on videos to make your page the coolest ever. To add new applications to your Facebook page just follow some of these steps...

Step I
Log on to your fanpage and click on the link "Applications" on the left side of your screen. And normally you should have already several pre-inserted applications like Photos, Groups, and Events etc.
Step 2
Watch out the for the applications you already have. You will find a list of applications and you can also remove applications, but don't bother because you can have as many applications as you want if you'd like to keep them all.
Step 3
Click "Browse more applications" in the right corner to see the full directory of applications.
Step 4
Look through the "Recently Popular," "Newest" and "Most Users" tabs at the top or different categories from the right column. This will help you to find the applications you are looking for.
Step 5
Click on the application you'd like to include. A screen will appear telling you what the application entails. Click on the right side of the screen and click on "Add Application" and the application will appear in your app list instantly.
Step 6
You will find the new added application when you log onto your fanpage. And the added application can be accessed by just clicking on the name on the left column.

I have a list of the popular apps just for you to get an idea on apps...

01. Twitter App
This will automatically add the tweets into your Facebook status, and puts the little Twitter-themed box on your profile. And everyone knows you’re cool enough to be on Twitter. It also saves you a lot time updating and to ensure profile activity.

02. Blog RSS Feed Reader

Most companies have or could have a blog. If you don’t, work on that before Facebook for many more reasons than you should from now on. But if you already have a blog, that's good news: there are tons of blog and RSS apps out there, but I’ve done the leg work for you and found this one offered more functionality, better customization (you can pick an image to make your Facebook mini-blog look more like your actual blog) and a greater sense of control. It can be a bit buggy, but it’s worth persisting for the level of customization, and therefore attention grabbing potential.

03. Static FBML

In the main content section neither FanPages nor Facebook Profiles allow any type of HTML, but you can add FBML and HTML applications to add more stylized elements to a Page, like clickable images, anchor text and interactive contents. The Static FBML app allows adding advanced functionality to a fanpage by placing a customizable box in which you can render HTML or FBML (Facebook Markup Language), giving you reign over the space to add images, video, stylized text and almost whatever else you want. This app was developed by Facebook, so it’s fully supported and not like any other problematic third party apps.

04. Extended Info
In the Extended Info box you can use HTML to customize any kind of content and generate various fields beyond the standard Information categories; you can also name the box anything you want so it matches your page perfectly. This app works much like the Static FBML application but it is much easier. Although not developed by Facebook, it is highly ranked and provides a nice alternative customizable box option on your page.

05. Flash Player
This Flash application is also developed by Facebook and will add a box to your Page with which you can upload your own Flash files to achieve advanced customization and play any kind of Flash video, widget or games. It can be renamed to maintain the integrity of the page and keep the look and feel consistent with your brand.

06. Posted Items Pro
With Posted Items Pro you can embed various YouTube, Yahoo, and Google Videos, music mp3's, sites, files, and lots more onto your profile or fanpages. And by adding these sorts of elements, you can use it as a media center or press section.

To find more apps that work on fan pages go to the application directory, click on ‘all apps’ and then on ‘pages’.

Connecting your site and blogs to make them popular
Connecting your blog or site is a great idea to let your friends and fans to know about your interest and also a good way to get some good traffic for your site or blogs. And keeping it in mind facebook did arrage some cool process to get your page connected to your blog.
Bob Buch, VP, Business Development at Digg.com said on a discussion called "Best Practices in Social Media Integration for Web Publishers and Content Providers" that according to Digg's research, "...Social community sites using the Facebook Connect API have seen their traffic increase from 30 -100%..." Really you should think about that...

So what is this Facebook Connect thing? Let us consider a scenario where you are supposedly a much appreciated critic, say for novels or may be movies and your presence is known only online. What you do day in and day out is read movie blogs and post comments. Your comments are read by the users and are highly appreciated. So far so good. But is it the only blog where you comment? No. You must be doing the same on other Movie blogs to. So it may be possible that you are actually not utilizing your reader base to it`s max. As the user who is present on one blog community, there is a fifty-fifty chance that he might not be present on the other blog where you have posted a similar rocking comment. Come to Facebook Connect and all your problems are solved.
Assuming that all your blogs are Facebook Connect enabled, you now just need to login via your Facebook Account and post yet another rocking comment of yours, then you get an option for posting a notification about your comment to your Facebook Wall automatically. Now your fans just need to add you on Facebook and they stay up-to-date with all the comment-ship you do on the web. Neat, isn't it?

Playing social games to have fun and increase connection
Social games stand apart from regular games because they engage your network of friends. Instead of just throwing sheep or zombies at each other, friends challenge each other to games like Scrabble, bowling and mini-golf. And unlike viral applications like SuperPoke, where users simply send each other weird stuff, social games grow more organically.
Since most game results post to your wall, your entire network will notice you're playing a certain game. Some of the simulation-based games might even ask you to team up with your friends to complete certain tasks. Friends can invite each other to beat their scores, and many games even offer "taunts" and "smack talk" that publish to the user's wall, enticing even more people to join.
This mindless fun means serious cash for game developers. Facebook games are on track to make $500 million in 2009 [source: Eldon]. Some game developers make money through traditional advertising, but many use the actual game to generate revenue. For example, players can buy virtual goods like poker chips or clothes for their avatars to move ahead in the game. We'll look at some games that use these virtual goods (along with your very real money) on the following list of top five games. With over 200 million subscribers in Facebook are serious players. So it's normal to find out some games to bond them together. With that in mind, there are going to be players trying to jump on the train and grab some of that success too. "Make and bring friends and family together" is the motto of the game developers as they are telling.
So don't just think those as games...because it might get you a lot of connections. We'll look at some top games on Facebook to get good connections...

Mafia Wars by Zynga
Mafia War works as a point system to score your movement up the mobster family and the more friends you have in your mob, the more powerful you are. The creators have also introduced a new part of the game where you can now travel to Cuba and make your mob presence felt there! Another master move by Zynga to keep the gamers alive.
Texas HoldEm Poker
Zynga's hot card game has over 12.5 million monthly users. THP not only grasps the spirit of this version of poker but they include all your friends in the game also by letting you sendthem chips and gifts. These are free, but you can also purchase gifts for your friends or by chips for yourself.
Pet Society by playfish
The basics of the game are that you are rewarded with points as you perform tasks. As you gain points you also gain levels and earn new items for your pet. But the main thing is you must keep you pet happy by feeding, bathing, brushing and playing with your pet.
YoVille by Zynga
In YoVille you get cash by working and experience points to level up by doing different actions in the game. I do play this game, but have drifted from it as it really hasn't caught my fancy to waste my time playing it.
Farmville by Slashkey
In Farmville you will find the test of a farmer. Plowing, Seeding, Harvesting and making farmhouses, helping neighbors, getting extra cash helping your neighbors, and also gaining XP's as to gather points to raise your player level is Farmville. It's really a great game where you can make good connections helping neighbors and sending them pretty gifts like an apple tree or seasonal gifts like Easter eggs.

Adding Email ideas is an awesome one!!
Yeah it's really an awesome idea to make a box to collect emails to add automated friends. Don't believe it?? Then follow me to get started...
The thing is after creating a fanpage start a discussion topics saying "hi I am .... And this is my email address"ab@mail.yahoo.com" don't hesitate to add yours and your friends email as many as you can. Don't repeat emails and be fair; just add emails including previous ones. Afterward send invitations clicking invitation link copying the emails and paste it in the "To: " box and in massage box say something about yourself requesting to accept you as a friend in Facebook....
Here is a page I want to show how they have collected thousands of emails just starting like this...
As easy as that...And in a shortest time you will find peoples adding new emails and sending themselves invitations including their emails along with yours.
Can you guess if it works....how much friends it can generate for you without getting any warning from Facebook...!!!

I have tried my best to provide some info's about Facebook. And if you guys do have some more great stuffs you wan' a share with us please don't hesitate to talk about it and do make some comments about the stuffs I have tried to reach out about Facebook. So Adios Amigos...
